I've always wanted to make this, and my fiance has mentioned that he hasn't had one in a long time, so for Halloween I decided to make it. I used a recipe from this one book I bought, called The Essential Baking Cookbook. Enjoy. ( Recipe and more pics )

My friend was in a horrible car accident months ago. She's still in the hospital and is very slowly trying to recover. It's not even guaranteed that she will survive this. Many fundraisers are being held to raise money for her hospital bills. I'm trying to stay involved with them raising as much as I can. The reason I'm posting this here is because in a couple weeks there will be a very large bake sale where all the proceeds will go towards her. I've never been involved in bake sales before so I was wondering what you guys think would be good sellers there. I'd like to keep the recipes as basic as possible but still want them to stand out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I'm not sure if it matters, but I'm fairly certain that over half of the buyers will be of the "elderly" crowd.
Thank you guys! | | |

Okay so this is a really weird question, but I have a whole bottle of liquid glucose sitting on my desk, rotting away because it was an impulse buy :P Any suggestions from all you pro-bakers as to what to do with it?
Thanks much in advance!

"Hello, Mr. Ordered Truck Decals? Yes, this is Me with The Best Darn Little Sign Shop Ever. I'm calling about the box truck you left for me to install decals on."
"Oh, yes, is it ready already?"
"Well, it would be. I'm about halfway done but it's started to rain. Doesn't look like it's going to let up any time soon, so it might be another day or two."
"You don't have a garage you can pull into?"
"I'm afraid not. Wish I did, though, it'd solve a lot of problems."
"Well, you should."
(doing my damnedest not to be wiseass here) "Well, I, er, don't."
"You're supposed to have that truck done today."
"I can't do anything out there with it raining, I'm really sorry, sir."
"You should have someplace to pull vehicles inside."
"I'm sorry, but I really don't."
"You should." *click*
OH GOLLY YOU GUYS A GARAGE JUST APPEARED OUTSIDE IT'S MADE OF CANDY AND HAPPY THOUGHTS

I've been trying to bake as much as possible recently, despite not having any time. I've also been trying out new recipes rather than the usual ones I know taste nice. In the last week I've made vegan biscotti and rosemary and orange biscuits. These are two things I wouldn't normally make unless I felt like doing something slightly different. Biscotti is mostly eggs in my mind and rosemary belongs with potatoes. Despite this, they both turned out rather nice. The biscotti isn't anything like biscotti made with eggs but that's too be expected and the rosemary and orange biscuits a somewhat unexpected combination (at least for me!) They're still nice though! ( vegan biscotti and buttery rosemary biscuits! )

Testing out one of the Presidential Cookies on my blog HERE. Check it out for some more drool-worthy pictures! Made with oats, chocolate chips, pecans, and coconut. ( Recipe also behind cut.. )

I work in a book store in a mall. We will be closing in January. In fact, we will be closing almost two years to the day after the music store in the mall -- where I used to work -- closed. Now, I admit I may be being a tad oversensitive to some things, but:
I appreciate comments about how much it sucks that we're closing. I appreciate your concern about us booksellers finding other jobs in this economy. I don't appreciate you getting mad that I won't tell you what jobs, if any, my coworkers have lined up. That's their business, and your desire to find out where they'll be working after January is bordering on the stalky.
I don't mind you asking if we'll be having a clearance sale. I do mind you getting mad or expressing disbelief when I tell you that our parent company hasn't told us yet what sort of, if any, clearance we will be having. I really, really mind if you demand clearance sale prices now because you're been such a good customer, especially if I've never seen you before.
I love you for mentioning other places locally that are hiring. I have considerably less love for you suggesting that one of my female coworkers will only be able to get a job as a stripper. My love for you approaches zero when you start to mention specific clubs and go on in some detail how hot she would be. Again, you're getting stalkery. Stop it. (Nothing against strippers here -- I just know the coworker in question wouldn't want to do that as a job for her own personal reasons.)
Please, a little tact goes such a long way . . .

Reporting from a Harley-Davidson dealership. I'm just going to give you a run down on how NOT to act in my dealership. Now, we're polite and accommodating with our customers, but we are encouraged to NOT just blow over if they're being rude or abusive with us, that's right, I get to have a backbone, we're not subservient. Just thought I'd mention that so I don't get and "OMG BAD_SERVICE!" because I wasn't exactly being perky and happy. ( AMERICA! F**K YEA! )( Rockers ) ( :O )

We bought a new house in April and have been working since then to get it finished. I keep saying I'll do one big post when it's done, but instead it seems I'm going room-by-room. I posted my son's room and our patio in recent months. I'm hoping soon to post our living room/hallway, kitchen/dining room and bathroom. But for now, here's our bedroom that we just finished yesterday (save one or two finishing touches). As always, you can click on a photo to see a bigger version on Flickr. First off, thanks to all who responded to my Winter Hair post from earlier this week. I bought some Hemp Moisturizing products, and I can already feel a difference and there's not as much breakage.
Now, here's a Winter SKIN question:
My skin is drier than the Sahara during the winter. It's acne prone, but I can use cocoa butter and olive oil on my face with no breakouts.
Do they make a cocoa butter or olive oil face wash, but in a tube or pump? Right now, I'm using Palmer's Cocoa Butter bar soap, which is great. But since I travel a lot in the winter, a tube of facewash would be easier for me to carry around.
Thanks everyone! | | |

When the September 2009 issue of Allure hit the stands, fall fashion was just starting to become relevant. Since fall is now in full swing, I thought it would be a great time to share these pictures of Amanda Seyfried from the September 2009 issue of Allure. Featuring several great fall style trends such as layered chunky necklaces, destroyed denim from Siwy, and several cozy looks, this piece is great for style inspiration.

I answer phones at a place that sells vehicles. These 2 calls were from 2 different people..
Me: Hi! This is [Dealership]. How may I direct your call? Customer: Yes, I need directions to you. Me: Ok. Where you coming from? Customer: The south. Me: Ok! Just take [This Highway] north and... Customer: Get off on [Wrong St]?! Me: No.. get off on [Right St]... Customer: I can come from [Different Highway]. Me: Yes, you can. Then, you will want to... Customer: Get off on [Wrong St]?!?! Me: No.. actually merge onto [Yet another Highway].. Customer: Ok. So, I'll just take [This Highway] to [Yet another Highway]. Me: No.. if you are going to take [This Highway], get off on [Right St] and turn left. Customer: Ok ok.. let me write this down. [This Highway] south.. Me: Actually, you will want to go north.. if you are coming from the south.. Customer: Ok, [This Highway] north. Get off on [Wrong St].. Me: o.0... Nope. [Right St]. And turn left. Customer: Ok. Left and then..? Me: A right on [Next St] and we are right there! Customer: Ok.. [N-E-X-T St]? Me: Yes... Customer: Ok! *She repeats directions.. and I hold my breath until I hear she repeated them correctly* Customer: Thanks! *hang up* Me: ...welcome... -.-"
Me: Hi! This is [Dealership]. How may I direct your call? Customer: Is your address [blahblahblah]? Me: Yes. Customer: You are located 22 miles from me?! Me: Um... Customer: I put directions in my GPS and it says you are 22 miles from me. But I'm only located [4 miles down the road]? Me: I'm not sure why it's saying that. We are only 4 miles up the road from you. Customer: Ok.. so I can just get on [This Highway]? Me: Yes, then just turn left and a right on [Next St] and we are right there! Customer: [N-E-X-T St]?? Me: Yes... at the bottom of the hill. Customer: ok! *hangs up*
Geez.. would you drive into a lake if the GPS told you to?!

I comment here a fair amount but haven't made a post in ages..scary, no? My bedroom currently remains very similar to how it was when I last posted 1-2 years ago, but I'm having some real problems with my workspace and would love some ideas on how to make it more functional as well as inspirational and motivational. Right now I am an 18-year-old Photography/Media 6th form student living at home and a hopefully-soon-to-be fashion student; whilst I tend to do most of my work at school because of their fabulous printers, I occasionally use my laptop for last-minute research, so it needs to be practical for a busy yet lazy student. I also write this fashion blog and tend to scribble ideas down on bits of paper and shove them into drawers and forget about them. Additionally I sell on Ebay and so have parcel tape, envelopes and sharpie pens scattered around the place which I need to keep together, though I keep my envelopes in our rather packed, even messier junk room so it's not quite as full. Therefore my area also needs to have great organisation and motivate me to write regularly and keep everything tidy, organised and out of the way. On top of all of that, I use it for my regular internet stuff such as MSN and Facebook, plus the occasional DVD and CD. That is a lot of computer time in one day! So how does one transform a small half-bedroom space into a super-motivation work station without spending too much money? ( pixx here )I'd be so grateful for any ideas on how to revamp the space. - Tags:desks, question

http://frappelattes.com/maris-naturals-skin-care-review/ http://frappelattes.com/?p=2791 This post is labeled guy-approved because this review includes products that have been deemed guy-friendly – meaning, your guy could use them and love them as much as you do, giving you twice the incentive to buy if you live with him or just find yourself stashing products at his place.

The scent in particular of Maris Naturals Skin Care products — Bali Vanilla — is one I’d consider “unisex.” I say this because when I first slathered on the body crème expecting a very feminine vanilla scent, the smell was much more earthy. This makes sense looking at the list of ingredients, which includes spicy clove and sandalwood. The formula, containing shea butter and orange wax, is richly moisturizing which is a selling point for me. But the smell wasn’t something I’m used to. So, I decided to stash the body crème along with the Bali Vanilla Bath & Shower Gel at Boyfriend’s place in his bathroom (no way I’m using his Irish Spring or Jergens post-shower on my dry skin!).
One following evening Boyfriend comes walking out of his bathroom, damp hair, rubbing some stuff on his elbows and smelling curiously of something I’d used before. It was definitely that Maris Bali Vanilla scent. After admitting that he couldn’t resist trying out the “new stuff” he saw in the shower, Boyfriend also admitted how much he actually liked it. That his skin felt clean, smelled good (“This isn’t too girly…”), and didn’t feel irritated as it sometimes did post-shower.
Maris Bali Vanilla Body Crème ($30) and Bath & Shower Gel ($24) can be found along with other Maris Naturals Skin Care Products at MarisNaturals.com.
